Coca-Cola Plus Contains Fiber and Is Apparently the Healthiest Coke Yet

As the world continues to lurch from the inexplicable to the incomprehensible to the ridiculous, Coca Cola has unveiled its latest Coke drink, which is said to be actively good for you. Yes, you read that correctly. What next, a gym that isn't full of dudes being weird? Kale that doesn't taste like actual soap?

Coca-Cola Plus comes reinforced with added fiber and is both sugar and calorie-free. The soda contains something called indigestible dextrin, which was initially marketed as a supplement for those with fiber deficiencies. And that's not all. Coca-Cola also claims the drink can help control cholesterol levels in the blood if drunk once a day - a bit like red wine, then.

If that all sounds like it's too good to be true, then perhaps it is. When the drink was initially trialed in Japan under another alias seven years ago, a CNN review read: "Coca-Cola Plus Fiber is like drinking an ultra-sweet cola-flavored jelly with a heavy dose of faux citrus and a biting carbonation. A remote high-five to anyone who can finish a whole bottle and eat another meal that day." Mmmmm.

Those in Japan can look forward to the drink release in March, meaning the rest of us will have to make do with Coke diet and Coke zero in the meantime.
